This last week I had finals for chem and all I can say is I'm SO glad that class is done. What a great instructor, though. His is the first ratemyprofessor page I've ever seen without a SINGLE bad review. But man was there a lot of hw... Anyway, I aced the class, so rockin! The rest of the summer semester should be more relaxed now.
I'm looking into getting new glasses... This pair that I've had since the late nineties just aren't cutting it anymore... I was going to just head over to the closest lenscrafters, but after talking to a friend who got flexon frames with transition lenses all for under $300 at a "family optometrist", I'm thinking maybe that would be cheaper. It seems as Lenscrafters must make their money by selling frames at cost and then jacking up the lenses, because they charge that much for just the transition lenses. Since everybody I know who reads this wears eyeglasses, what do you think, national chain, or local practice?
And in case you've been living in a cave, Beckham is in LA now. I'll be going to a game sometime within the next month, so I'll keep you posted. It would be cool if he helps bring the sport into prominence over here. Considering the Galaxy, his new team, has only 3 wins so far, I don't think we'll see him on national TV carrying them to the title this year, though.
Sorry, no muckracking links for you're viewing pleasure today.

When I got glasses I wanted them to have clip on magnetic sunglasses...all of the chain stores had the exact same type, so I ended up going to a smaller "family" shop. I found almost exactly what I wanted, and I know theres going to be very few people with the same frames. It cost me a ton of money for the frames, but if I were to do it again I'd still go back there.
It was nice having a huge selection of frames, with every type of variation, instead of maybe 6 or 7 frames that look basically the same (like the chain stores). If I recall, the lenses were relatively inexpensive as well.
I was looking for a post I did a while back about glasses shopping but I couldn't find it. It was about how there are aisles upon aisles of womens and childrens glasses and 4 mens glasses. In the mean time I stumbled upon why I will never buy another Valve game. And to answer your question, the "mom and pop" shop tends to be more expensive but a lot more friendly and personal.
