Ahhh... the weekend (sigh of relief). School has been proceeding at a breakneck speed, but it is going so well I couldn't be happier about it. To explain my lack of legitimate postings, I've been booking at least 3-4 hours of homework a night, so just haven't had the time.
A list of recent things of interest:
Microsoft is really pushing its Windows Live community. I've mostly ignored it thus far, but its recent offer of real prizes such as Vista ultimate, a Zune, and an Xbox 360 simply for playing their games is most enticing. Had I a day job, I would surely be wasting all sorts of company time collecting arcade-style tickets. For all of you 会社員 out there, may your productivity waste away.
To fulfill my muckraking quota, I recently read a disconcerting article in The New Yorker about the Abu Ghraib prison investigation in Iraq. I would write more about the unsettling nature of scandal that seems to pervade each and every report out of Iraq, but thinking about that and the dozens of good people I've known who lost their lives over there makes it too upsetting. If you're all not outraged, you should be.
In the news: A presidential debate on youtube? WOOT!!!
Personal: So I'm thinking about moving again. I'm tired of my current arrangement, and I badly want to live in a place I can both be comfortable in right now, and will also want to live in for a while. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I moved into my current place, but I now know I do not want to live here for the next x years, and I wonder about even the next x months. Since I know my time here is coming to a close sooner or later, I'm tempted to take the plunge now. Everything else is going well; I hate to have the place I'm living be the sole thorn in my side. Besides, I need more room. I have so much stuff... Rather than rant about my situation, I think I'll just change it. I will keep you posted.
